James Ricketts is a Partner and Head of our Risk & Compliance team. He joined us in 2020 and brings over 15 years of experience managing regulatory and operational risk within legal services, both in the UK and internationally.

As a Risk and Compliance Solicitor, he supports the firm’s day-to-day operations and long-term growth by ensuring our processes align with evolving regulatory standards. His role focuses on identifying and mitigating potential risks while promoting a culture of compliance across all areas of the business.

Before joining Blacks, James held senior compliance roles with regional firms in Yorkshire and global law firms, where he supported offices in the UK, Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa.

In addition to his leadership responsibilities, James serves as the firm’s Money Laundering Reporting Officer and Data Privacy Manager. This role combines technical expertise with a practical mindset, helping to uphold the highest standards of professional conduct and client care.
