Blacks expands Real Estate Litigation team

July 1, 2026

The Real Estate Litigation team at Blacks Solicitors LLP, one of Yorkshire’s leading law firms, has strengthened its offering with the appointment of two new solicitors.

Following a period of sustained growth and increasing demand, the team has appointed Chloe Ward and Jess Bowen as Associate Solicitor and Solicitor, taking the team’s total headcount to eight.

Chloe joins the team to further strengthen its specialist telecommunications offering. After previously holding a role at global law firm Squire Patton Boggs, she brings four years’ experience acting on behalf of telecommunications operators.

Meanwhile, Jess joins the firm from international practice, Eversheds, as a newly qualified solicitor and will support clients across telecommunications, asset management and landlord and tenant matters, further enhancing the team’s full-service real estate offering.

Telecommunications law is a core service offering for the firm, with Blacks recognised as one of a small number of specialist practices acting exclusively for landowners and occupiers nationwide.

Over the past year, the Real Estate Litigation team has experienced significant growth, increasing turnover by more than 61% from 2024/25 to 2025/26. During the same period, the team acted for more than 80 new clients and received 187 new instructions, reflecting growing demand for its specialist expertise.

Discussing her new role, Chloe said: “Joining the Real Estate Litigation team at Blacks is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a growing practice and work on high-value, complex telecommunications matters.

“The team has an outstanding reputation in the sector, built on its extensive expertise and strong track record of delivering results for clients. I’m delighted to be joining at such an exciting period of growth and look forward to further developing my practical, hands-on experience while supporting the team’s continued success.”

Blacks’ Real Estate Litigation team advises landlords, developers, investors, occupiers and landowners on a broad range of complex property disputes, including lease renewals, dilapidations claims, development-related disputes and portfolio management issues, with clients spanning Westfield, Clarion Housing Group and LGH Hotel Group.

Commenting on the recent team growth, Luke Maidens, Head of the Real Estate Litigation team at Blacks, added: "We remain focused on continuing to expand our offering in the market and strong reputation in the industry. These appointments reflect the increasing demand we are seeing across the telecommunications sector, driven by ongoing network expansion, infrastructure upgrades and the evolving needs of landowners and occupiers. Jess and Chloe bring a new dimension to the team, and we’re already really enjoying their fresh perspective as they settle into an already established division of the business.”
