Corporate Law team celebrates record financial success with £220m transactions value

The Corporate Law team at Blacks Solicitors is marking another successful financial year, with over 50 deals completed, and the total value of transactions reaching over £220 million.

Across the year, the team saw a 13%, or £200,000, increase in turnover, were instructed on 216 matters, and won 100 new clients. The Corporate Law team worked closely with the Commercial, Music and Banking departments to provide a cross-service offering to multiple clients.

Standout deals included the sale of IT and software company, Technology Forge; a £90 million business sale; and a chain of instructions to act on the sale of insurance brokers in South Yorkshire by The Clear Group, backed by global investment bank, Goldman Sachs.

Commenting on the success of the team, Nigel Hoyle, Head of Corporate law at Blacks Solicitors, said: “I am extremely proud of the team for their hard work which is reflected in the significant number of transactions and growth of turnover that we have generated over the last financial year. As we continue to secure high value work from clients across the Yorkshire region and beyond, I am hopeful that our growth trajectory will continue and we will be able to reflect on another prosperous year in 2024”.

The total number of team members specialising in Corporate law currently stands at 10, with the addition of Commercial, Banking, Intellectual Property and Music law taking the headcount to 17.

Thanks to its successes, the team has experienced a number of new hires and promotions. Most notably, Pete Bott returned to the firm in October 2022 to head up the new Music law arm, bringing with him a wealth of experience in acting for artists and producers in the music industry. Alex Hall and Hayley Blackburn who are integral members of the Corporate Law team were promoted to Senior Associate and Associate respectively. Alex and Hayley both trained at Blacks Solicitors.
