GP Surgeries / Medical Practices
Blacks Solicitors’ specialist Medical Practices team provide practical, cost-effective legal advice to GPs and GP Partnerships across Yorkshire, and throughout England and Wales.
Our team draws on a broad range of skills and experience, from across the Firm, so we can always find the right person to advise you. Some of the ways in which we can help are listed below:
- Partnership Agreements
- Federations, Joint Ventures and other Collaborative Arrangements
- Surgery Premises
- Employment Law
- Data Protection & Privacy
If you are thinking of merging with another practice, we can advise you on the best ways of achieving the merger and on how best to manage the risks. A merger will inevitably involve:
- The preparation of a new Partnership Agreement
- A transfer of employees from one legal entity to another (TUPE)
- The transfer of freehold or leasehold property.
We can advise you on all of the above matters so that your merger runs as smoothly as possible.
Disputes can arise within a medical partnership, even where the partners have previously enjoyed a good relationship. The dispute may be in relation to the conduct of a partner, the use of partnership resources, or other issues, however not all medical partnerships have a Partnership Agreement in place to provide a framework for the resolution of a dispute.
At Blacks we know that disputes within a medical partnership can cause a great deal of disruption and it is vital that they are resolved as quickly as possible. Our team will take the time to understand the needs of your practice and advise you on the best method of resolution to ensure that any issues are resolved with the minimum impact on the running of your practice.
We can also advise practice owners in relation to bringing, or defending, Court proceedings; however we will always avoid the need to go to Court wherever possible by using Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), which can include Arbitration, Mediation, or simple negotiation.
Personal Legal Services
In addition to the above we also advise GPs in relation to their personal legal needs, including:
- Family Law
- Residential Property / Conveyancing
- Wills & Probate (including Inheritance & Will disputes)
