Blacks Direct – Meet the Team

Case Handlers

Abbie Spence started her career in conveyancing in 2013 and started her role here at Blacks as a Case Handler in February 2016.

Laura-Jo Warnock has worked in conveyancing since 2012 and have been with Blacks since 2014. She is a Case Handler and is currently working towards qualifying as a Licensed Conveyancer.

Eleanor Firth has worked in conveyancing since 1999, which is also the same year she joined Blacks.

Hannah Stead has worked in conveyancing since 2014 and been with Blacks since April 2018. She is a senior Paralegal.

Sheraz Hussain has worked at Blacks for over two and half years. He works as a Case Handler.

Clare Brattan has worked in conveyancing since 2004 and been with Blacks since 2013. She carries out the legal work on all types of residential matters as well as leading one of our conveyancing teams.

Jack Parkinson has worked in conveyancing since 2012 and been with Blacks since 2012. He provides technical legal support to the conveyancing team.

Sophie Arnold has a Bachelors Law degree. She has worked in conveyancing since 2014 and started at Blacks in 2017.

Rebecca Skeet joined Blacks as a Case Handler in late 2018. She has worked in conveyancing since 2010 and first became a Case Handler in 2016.

Paris Bentley has worked in conveyancing since 2014 and started at Blacks in the same year. She is a Case Handler within the team.

Georgie Lower graduated from Durham University in 2014 with a 2:1 in Law and has since gained experience in dealing with both Residential and Commercial Property matters. She joined Blacks in 2018 and carries out the legal work on a wide range of residential matters.

Liam Parkinson has worked in conveyancing since 2016. He currently work’s as a Case Handler and has been working at Blacks since June 2017.

Monica O’Neil previously worked in conveyancing in Australia and has relocated to England. She joined Black in 2018 as a Case Handler.

Sophie Jones has worked in conveyancing since 2014. She currently works as a Case Handler and has been working at Blacks since 2018.

Lauren Parkinson has worked in conveyancing since 2005 and been with Blacks since 2012. She is a Case Handler.

Sophia Weller joined Blacks Solicitors in 2016 and is a Case Handler. Over the past few years Sophia has grown within the firm through various roles from Conveyancing Assistant to Case Handler and rapidly expanding her experience in conveyancing transactions. Sophia has a good reputation among her clients and the referrers she works with, and is continuing to thrive within the film whilst training to qualify as a Chartered Legal Executive.

Will Ashton started working in conveyancing in 2009 and joined Blacks in 2019.  He is a Case Handler within the team and assists clients with a variety of legal matters.

Paul Firth has worked in conveyancing since 2009. He currently works as a Case Handler and has been working at Blacks since 2018.

Kirsty Kingswood has worked in conveyancing since 2012 and has been working at Blacks Solicitors since 2014. She is currently working towards her qualification as a Legal Executive. She is a Conveyancer managing her own cases including dealing with the technical legal aspects.

Liz Daniel has worked in conveyancing and with Blacks solicitors since 2015 and she is currently working as a Case Handler.

Ben King has worked in conveyancing since 2013. He joined Blacks in June 2018 as a Remortgage Case Handler.

Bilal Sheikh has worked in conveyancing since 2012. He joined Blacks in February 2018 and works as a Remortgage Case Handler.

 

Conveyancing Assistants

Keeley Wilson has worked in conveyancing since 2012 and has been working at Blacks Solicitors since 2018. She is currently working towards her qualification as a Legal Executive. She provides support to the Case Handlers.

Jack England has worked in conveyancing since 2017 and joined Blacks as a Conveyancing Assistant in 2018.

Aarifah Patel started working at Blacks Solicitors 2015, however she started working in conveyancing in 2014. She obtained a Law Degree and a MLP from the University of Huddersfield and is currently working as a Conveyancing Assistant.

Natalie Byers-Nolan has worked in conveyancing since September 2017. She currently works as a Conveyancing Assistant and has been working at Blacks since January 2018.

Joanna Emmett has worked in conveyancing since 2018 and started her career with Blacks. She provides support to the team and plans to be working towards qualifying as a Chartered Legal Executive.

Crystal Pay started work at Blacks in 2018 and this is her first role in conveyancing. She obtained a law degree from Hull University and then completed the Legal Practice Course combined with a Masters in Law. She provides administrative support to the Case Handlers on the team as a Conveyancing Assistant.

Shaheena Patel has worked in conveyancing since August 2017. She is working towards her Legal Practice Course and Masters in Law and Business. She has been working at Blacks as a Paralegal and Legal Assistant since January 2018.

Liberty Walton started work at Blacks in early 2019 as a Junior Conveyancing Assistant. She provides administrative support to the Case Handlers on the team.

Kyle Knox has worked in conveyancing for over 3 years. He joined Blacks as a Conveyancing Assistant in early 2018.

Darren Curtis has worked in conveyancing since 2017 and been with Blacks since February 2018. He is a Conveyancing Assistant.

Debra Norwell has worked in conveyancing since 2014 and has been with Blacks since 2017.

Alison Neary has worked in conveyancing since 1996 and been with Blacks since 2009. She provides administrative support to the team.

Daniel Haxby has worked in conveyancing since 2016 and been with Blacks since mid-2018.

Natalie Wood has worked in conveyancing since 1999 and has been with Blacks since 2013. She is a Conveyancing Assistant  to the team.

Rebecca Mason graduated university in 2017 with a BA Hons in Sociology and Social Policy. She has worked in conveyancing since 2017. She currently works as a Conveyancing Assistant and has been working at Blacks since January 2019.

Mariya Mahmood has worked in conveyancing since May 2018 when she joined Blacks as an Admin Assistant, moving to an Equity Release Assistant in October.

Kim Rice has worked in conveyancing since she left school in 1998. She works as a Paralegal and has been working at Blacks since 2013.

 

Title Checkers

Emma Garfitt is a qualified solicitor and was admitted to the role on the 2 October 2000. She also has a LL.M with distinction in Commercial Property. Upon qualification in 2000, she worked in conveyancing both residential and commercial. She was a practicing solicitor from 2000 -2004. At this point she became a non-practicing solicitor and worked as a Senior University Lecturer specialising in Land Law, Property Law and Practice and all areas of Landlord and Tenant and Commercial Property from 2004 – 2018. This included researching, publishing and teaching in these areas. She returned to private practice in 2018 in conveyancing. She assists the Case Handlers with the technical aspects of their cases.

Perdip Kaur Bhachu qualified as a Solicitor in 2010 and joined Blacks in 2016. She provides technical legal support on complex issues to her team and the department as a whole. Perdip specialises in a wide variety of property transactions and has extensive experience advising on all types of transactional conveyancing work. This includes a wide range of freehold and leasehold sale and purchase transactions, new build development transactions, transfers of equity, re-mortgage transactions (acting for both individual and corporate clients), land purchases, lease extensions, variation of leases, licence to assign, and title rectification. Perdip is also the Training Supervisor for Trainee Solicitors undertaking their seat in Residential Property at Wade House. She is responsible for providing the Trainee Solicitors with a high standard of training in order to develop their skills and knowledge.

Hugh Rae has worked in residential conveyancing since 2001 and joined Blacks Solicitors in July 2017 as a Case Handler. He currently works as a Title Checker within the Blacks Direct team.

Pat Booth has worked in Conveyancing since 1971 and has been at Blacks since 2002. She is a Senior Title checker within the team.

David Lawes has been working in conveyancing since 2002 and joined Blacks in 2015.  David provides technical support and runs specialist files in the private client team.

Matthew Williams has worked in conveyancing since 1999 and has been with Blacks since 2012 in his role of Conveyancer.

Emma Law (nee Au-Yeung) has worked in conveyancing since 2013 and qualified as a Solicitor in 2015. She has been with Blacks since 2017 and is a Title Checker.

Paramjit Kaur has worked in conveyancing since 2011 and joined Blacks in 2017 as a Title Checker, providing technical legal support to the team.

Penny Barrand has worked as a conveyancer since 1996 and been with Blacks since 2013. She liaises with her team with the more complex legal matters arising on a transaction.

Simon Hopwell has worked in conveyancing for many years and joined Blacks in 2018 as a Title Checker.

Saba Perwaiz has worked in conveyancing since 2011 and qualified in 2016. She has been with Blacks since 2016 as a Solicitor undertaking technical work on residential files.

Anne Hewitt has worked in conveyancing for most of her life and has only had time off to have children. Anne has worked at Blacks since 2013 and is a Senior Title Checker

Sarah Kellett is a Qualified Licenced Conveyancer.  She has worked in conveyancing since 2001 and has been with Blacks since October 2014. She is a Title Checker, providing technical support to the Case Handlers.
