A workplace mediation has a completely different structure to mediation where there is a court/tribunal dispute and is aimed at resolving workplace disputes between employees. It can also be used in partnership or boardroom disputes. The parties are not represented and the Mediator deals with the parties initially individually and then in a joint meeting (if the case can be mediated) with a view to reaching an agreement. Rarely would a Mediator depart from this approach.
