Luke Patel qualified as a Solicitor in London in 1995 and has worked at Blacks Solicitors since 1998, where he is now a Partner and Head of the Commercial Dispute Resolution and Personal Injury & Medical Negligence teams.
Luke acts for a broad range of clients from owner managed businesses to charities and international organisations, undertaking a variety of commercial chancery work including: company and contractual disputes; director/shareholder disputes; disputes concerning trustees; professional negligence; defamation; privacy; and property litigation (including landlord and tenant matters).
He has a particular experience in dealing with complex charity disputes concerning religious organisations (temples, gurdwaras and mosques) acting for both trustees, executive committees and congregation members in group type actions.
Luke has also had several reported cases in the Court of Appeal. One successful matter included advising a prominent religious leader where permission was secured to appeal to the Court of Appeal, and the case went on to the Supreme Court.
Recognised by the Legal 500 as being “an exceptional litigator”, “very client focused, driven by getting the right outcome for his clients and always delivering an impeccable service”. Luke was also awarded the Best Professional in Business Award at the English Asian Business Awards 2013.
Yat Wong joined Blacks Solicitors in 2007 and is a Solicitor in the Commercial Dispute Resolution team.
Before joining Blacks, Yat worked for law firms in the North East, South Yorkshire, and in London, and has over 21 years’ experience in advising both private individuals and businesses on all aspects of litigation.
Yat’s specialisms include boundary and property disputes, contractual disputes, professional negligence claims, intellectual property disputes, and company and partnership disputes.
Although Yat is highly accomplished in litigating cases, he is keen to try to resolve disputes for clients in a pragmatic and commercial way to minimise any cost to them.
Pete Konieczko Hansom qualified as a Solicitor in 2008 and joined Blacks Solicitors in 2016, where he became an Associate Solicitor in the Corporate & Commercial team in 2018.
Prior to Blacks, Pete trained at a large national firm in Hull and gained experience in a variety of legal areas including commercial litigation, employment and intellectual property.
Pete acts for a range of clients from new business start-ups to large international companies. He specialises in all types of corporate and commercial matters including asset/share purchases/sales, management buy outs (MBOs), share buy backs, commercial contracts (including franchise agreements), supply agreements, and shareholder agreements.
In addition, Pete also advises clients on intellectual property matters including the registration of trademarks and design rights, and how to best protect and commercially exploit a company’s intellectual property portfolio.
Tate Chakrabarty qualified as a Solicitor in 2010 with a national law firm and joined Blacks Solicitors in 2017, where he is currently an Associate Solicitor in the Corporate & Commercial team.
Prior to joining Blacks, Tate worked in-house for several large manufacturers including: as European Counsel for a global steel company; Legal Counsel for Europe’s largest producer of silicone rubber; and as Legal Counsel for a FTSE listed manufacturer of plastics.
Tate has also acted as a Consultant for companies listed on the FTSE, the Canadian Securities Exchange, the Sensex and the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
Whilst he specialises in commercial law and is vastly experienced in handling agreements and commercial matters for global manufacturers, Tate also has extensive experience in handling and negotiating data protection/privacy matters and agreements, as well as advising on competition law/anti-trust matters.
Tate is also recognised by The Legal 500 for having “the perfect combination of being highly personal and razor sharp in his legal and commercial knowledge”, as well as being “incredibly reliable”.
