Movember: Blacks raise money for men’s health
Five colleagues from Blacks Solicitors have taken up the Movember challenge, growing their moustaches to raise money for men’s health. Stepping up to the mark are Dave Paterson, Marc Warren, Alex Morris, Josh Walker and Benjamin Aris from Blacks’ Corporate, Employment and Commercial Property teams.
The movement aims to raise awareness and funding to help tackle prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention, with the rules including the following:
- Each Mo Bro must begin the 1st of Movember with a clean shaven face.
- For the entire month of Movember each Mo Bro must grow and groom a moustache.
- Don’t fake it. No beards, no goatees and no fake moustaches.
- Use the power of the moustache to create conversation and raise funds for men’s health.
- Each Mo Bro must conduct himself like a true gentleman.
Complete with a Style Guide, the Movember helps participants to choose the perfect moustache so that whether they opt for The Wisp, The Trucker, or anything in-between, they are bound to attract attention and start conversations.
Globally, more than 1.4 million men are diagnosed with prostate cancer each year, with one sadly dying every 45 minutes in the UK because of it. Movember aims to halve the number of men who die from prostate or testicular cancer by 2030.
Three out of four deaths by suicide in the UK are men, and suicide is the leading cause of death among 15 – 49 year old men in England and Wales. So, if you spot a ‘Bro’ feeling low then please talk to them, it could be just what they need.
In 2018, ten million pounds was raised for Movember in the UK. This goes a long way to fund groundbreaking health projects, making a real difference to the lives of many men across the globe.
This is why Blacks are pledging their upper lips to such a great cause. From face-lace, to upper-lipolstery, here at Blacks we are doing our part, and so can you.
If you would like to support this fantastic cause, you can do so via our fundraising page. Please help to support men across the country sacrificing their face (and reputations) for Movember.
