My First Week at Blacks as a Trainee Solicitor
I imagine for most people arriving at the office on the first day of being a Trainee Solicitor at Blacks feels like being the new kid at school; nervous about what might happen, and excited to be starting the next chapter of your career.
Luckily for me, transitioning from a Paralegal to a Trainee meant that being the “new kid at school” wasn’t something that I felt on my first day.
I was slightly nervous about changing teams after two years in Property however I was definitely excited to be moving forward in my chosen career and achieving my ultimate goal of becoming a fully qualified solicitor.
Again, this was less daunting as we were all Paralegals at Blacks prior to starting our Training Contracts.
Our induction included a brief overview of what was expected of us, the goals of the business, and how we fit into the Firm’s future plans for continued success and growth.
Once we had finished our Induction I settled into my new seat in the Corporate & Commercial team where I found myself thrown in straight away; sitting in on calls with clients, dealing with due diligence, and drafting documents.
My first week also included a Team Meeting and I got to sit down with my Supervisor. This meant I settled in very quickly and felt confident asking my colleagues any questions if I had any problems with the tasks given to me.
I’ve found the whole process very interesting and I’m really enjoying learning new things. I’m sure that this will continue throughout my Training Contract and I look forward to everything that’s to come!
