On tour with England’s Women’s Cricket team

After an extensive period in the indoor school at Loughborough it’s been brilliant to get outdoors, compete, and pull on the 3 Lions!

After initially arriving in Mumbai, where we were greeted with an Indian welcome of flowers and Bindi dots, we received a warm Indian welcome on the pitch.

Having lost the first two One Day Internationals (ODIs) we managed to regain some pride and win the final ODI and ensure the series wasn’t a complete whitewash. However, safe to say we learnt a lot, and have some clear areas to improve on.

Since then we have been on to win the T20 series 3-0 with an empathic last over thriller in the final game.

A short flight from India we’ve had a satisfying trip to Sri Lanka, winning both a three game ODI series, with two games in Hambantota (the Jungle), and a three game T20 series at the P Sara Oval in Columbo.

The mood in camp is very positive, even if a little jaded after being on the road for six weeks, and we have had some real momentum moving into the last ODI before the final three T20s.

On a personal level, this trip has seen me bat in various roles across both formats but I now feel like I’m playing as well as ever and have the tools to do whatever the Team requires.

I’d be lying if I didn’t admit that it’s nice to be back as a top order batter, and I intend to continue my form and cement this spot moving forward.

This trip has been amazing both on and off the field with safaris, elephants, temples, yoga and fancy dress.

The team is nicely bonded and we know how important it is to hit the ground running ahead of a huge summer and important winter!
