Blacks Direct – Various Roles

The Team at Blacks Direct is expanding due to successful growth plans and as a result we have some new and exciting opportunities for applicants who already have extensive experience of working within a busy, fast paced residential conveyancing Team.

Residential Conveyancing Case Handler

Blacks Direct require a Conveyancer to join their successful, expanding Team. The Team cover a whole range of conveyancing services including sales, purchase, freehold, leasehold and new build

As a conveyancer you will:

  • Run a caseload of files from inception to completion – title checking experience not necessary as a title checker will conduct these
  • Liaise with clients, agents and third parties over the telephone
  • Deal with all aspects of sale files
  • Deal with all aspects of purchase files but with technical support
  • Be responsible for exchanges and completions
  • Ensuring that accurate records and notes, etc. are maintained on all matters whilst at all times working within the framework of the relevant Service Level Agreements. 
Title Checkers


Blacks Direct require Title Checkers within the Team.

The main responsibilities will be:

  • Check the title to Freehold, Leasehold, New build and Help to Buy work types
  • Interpret and report on the searches
  • Assist the conveyancing Teams and provide assistance with complex transactions
  • Raise enquiries
  • Prepare Property Reports
  • Assist with Leasehold sale files

Fee Earners

The key responsibilities of a Fee Earner within the Blacks Direct Team include:

  • Managing a varied caseload from instruction through to completion
  • Liaising effectively and appropriately with the client and third parties
  • Raising enquiries on the title and documentation received and dealing with responses to enquiries;
  • Exchange of contracts and completions;
  • Ensuring that accurate records and notes, etc. are maintained on all matters whilst at all times working within the framework of the relevant Service Level Agreements. 

Ideally you will have a good understanding of sales and be competent running your own caseload of other conveyancing matters including purchases, re-mortgage and transfer of equity.

General Key skills and experience for all roles:

  • Excellent communication skills essential – both telephone and face-to-face
  • Ability to work in a demanding environment
  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills
  • IT literate across Microsoft packages and Case Management Systems
  • Strong commitment to client care

The successful applicants will have the ability to learn quickly with a high attention to detail and the ability to get things done within tight deadlines.

These are all full time roles and to start ASAP.

 



Solicitor 2-5 years PQE – Wills & Probate 

Our business is growing, and as such our Wills & Probate Department is currently looking for a Solicitor with 2-5 years PQE. We specialise in providing the full range of friendly and cost effective private client services to individuals and business owners.

We are looking for candidates who have the following skills and experience:-

  • Ability to take Will instructions and draft Wills with a meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to advise clients regarding all aspects relating to Wills such as inheritance tax, business property relief, asset protection, and the new residence nil rate band
  • Ability  to complete Lasting Power of Attorney forms for property and financial decisions and also health and care decisions and to be able to register these at the Office of the Public Guardian
  • Ability to handle all aspects of estate administration and to be able to advise on deeds of variation and deeds of appropriation
  • Ability to draft lifetime trusts and to advise on the taxation of trusts and the inheritance tax consequences of gifts to trusts
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Experience of a case management system
  • Team player

2 yrs PQE Property Litigation Solicitor

Blacks Solicitors LLP is an independent 19 partner award winning law firm providing a full range of advice and services to clients, centring on their commercial, property, and business interests.

Our business is growing, and as such our Commercial Dispute Resolution Department  is currently looking for a dynamic Solicitor with the equivalent of 2 - 3 years PQE in property litigation to join our growing Property Litigation team.

Within that team our core clients are commercial landlords, developers, and tenants.   We also act regularly for mortgage  companies, and for owners of property more generally in connection with: 

  • Lease renewal and property management;
  • contracts for sale and purchase;
  • option agreements;
  • construction contracts;
  • adverse possession applications;
  • disputes between co-owners;
  • nuisance, trespass and easements;
  • associated  professional negligence claims.

We are therefore looking for candidates who have experience of handling commercial landlord and tenant matters, and with other property disputes of this nature.

The ideal candidate will be a client-focused team player within a larger Commercial Dispute Resolution Team, and will also be able to demonstrate:-

  • excellent communication skills 
  • initiative and evidence of working pro-actively
  • excellent attention to detail
  • ability to organise and prioritise their work load effectively
  • a commercial understanding and outlook.
